PCM’s team has well over 100 years of combined experience investing in the private equity industry. Such experience includes investing in primary funds and secondary market transactions as well as investing directly in private companies at all stages and serving on boards of private companies which makes it well equipped to understand the strategies, businesses and challenges of the private equity funds that it invests in. In addition, the PCM team is multi-disciplinary with backgrounds that include: investment banking, securities analysis, accounting, investment consulting, operational management, corporate M&A, and large consumer products.

Cohesive Team

The team that created PCM’s private equity business is still part of its investment committee today. While we have added senior individuals along the way, there have been no senior level departures of the PCM team. Carried interest in all products is shared throughout the entire team.

Analytical

We take a data-driven approach to our business, including track record analysis in support of primary investing and detailed models for pricing secondaries. We seek to go well beyond benchmarking IRR and ROI to identify the risks that managers assumed in the production of their returns, developing analytical tools that are proprietary to PCM.

Global Reach

PCM enjoys a global reach disproportionate to its size by virtue of its affiliation with the Permal Group, one of the largest alternative investment management organizations in the world, with offices in NY, London, Paris, Dubai, Hong Kong, Tokyo, Singapore and Nassau. PCM is able to leverage this network for the benefit of its secondary practice as well as due diligence assistance.
